Cocktail #001 - Whiskey Sour
Tried and True. The Whiskey Sour brings a familiar comfort to the palate. A perfect way to launch our new site on August 25, National Whiskey Sour Day.
CLASSIC COCKTAILRYEWHISKEYEGG WHITECOCKTAIL
To celebrate #NationalWhiskeySourDay today, here is a great recipe for a classic Whiskey Sour. The Whiskey Sour has been around for a long time and was actually included in Jerry Thomas's 1862 cocktail book. Later, an egg white was included in the drink and called the Boston Sour.
Glass:
Coupe
Ingredients:
2 oz Rye Whiskey
1 oz Lemon Juice
1/2 oz Simple Syrup
1 Egg White (or Aquafaba)
Technique:
Add all the ingredients into a shaker tin and dry shake for 30 seconds with no ice.
Then add several large ice cubes for a wet shake for 10-15 seconds.
Double strain into a chilled coupe glass.
Garnish with a few drops of Angostura bitters.
Garnish:
3-4 drops of Angostura Bitters
(optional) Use a toothpick to create some interesting designs with the bitters on top of the foam.
