The Creole Cocktail is not really from New Orleans at all, but is New York bartender Hugo Ensslin's ode to the Big Easy. Think of this as a riff on the Manhattan.

Glass

Nick & Nora

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 oz Rye Whiskey (Sazerac would be the natural choice for this ode to New Orleans)

  • 1 oz Sweet Vermouth

  • 1/4 oz Benedictine

  • 1/4 oz Amaro Angeleno (or an amaro of your choice...the original recipe called for Amer Picon which is unavailable in the United States)

Technique

Add all the ingredients to a mixing glass with ice and then stir 30-45 seconds. Strain the cocktail into the chilled glass and garnish.

Garnish

Lemon Twist
