The Grasshopper is a cocktail that traces its origins over 100 years ago in New Orleans, but has seen many variations over the years including ones made with mint chocolate chip ice cream in a more milkshake-like consistency. This recipe comes from Leo Robitschek's The NoMad Cocktail Book. It provides an elevated take on the traditionally equal parts creme de menthe-cream-creme de cacao formula by not only varying the proportions, but also adding Fernet-Branca and its menthol notes as well as shaking with some mint leaves.

Glass

Nick & Nora Glass

Ingredients

  • 3 mint leaves

  • 1/2 oz Fernet-Branca

  • 1/2 oz green creme de menthe

  • 3/4 oz white creme de cacao

  • 1 oz heavy cream

Add all ingredients to a shaker tin with some cubed ice.

Shake for 10-15 seconds and double strain into a chilled Nick & Nora Glass.

Mint Bouquet
